I find this 'delicate un/balance' between grotesque and macabre particularly effective. It conveys a sort of (ever so subtle!) threatening hint that I think is especially in accordance with the times we are living. This is definitely the sort of paradoxical trend I personally intend to explore. By the way: the figure shown is that of American actor Cesar Romero, I think.
Cesar Romero, that's right! The Joker in the 60s Batman series - he refused to shave his moustache for the role and if you look carefully, it shows under the layers of make-up!
